The Substance Abuse Foundation Inc. (SAF) is a registered Barbadian charity with a commitment to creating spaces of hope and healing.  Established in 1996, the charity was formed to fight the harmful impact of drugs and alcohol on the lives of citizens in Barbados and the wider Caribbean.

The Foundation, through its treatment centres at Verdun and Marina, is now considered to be at the forefront of excellence in mental health wellness and addiction management, offering a diverse and impactful range of programmes through our Wellness Clinic Services. 

We are recruiting for a visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead our Verdun and Marina projects. Applications are welcome from all Caribbean nationals interested in leading this pivotal mission to shape the future of mental health wellness and addiction treatment throughout the region. 

The Role:

As the Chief Executive Officer, you'll be the driving force behind our mission, overseeing all aspects of both facilities, in this hands-on leadership role.  You will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Vision: Developing and executing a long-term strategic plan that ensures the facility's sustainability and growth.

  • Operational Excellence: Managing day-to-day operations, including finance, human resources, clinical services, and stakeholder relations and policy implementation.

  • Financial Stewardship: Developing and managing the annual budget, securing funding, and ensuring financial health.

  • Team Leadership: Inspiring and mentoring a dedicated team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Community Engagement: Serving as the public face of the organization, building strong relationships with government agencies, community partners, and the Board of Directors.

The Requirements:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent training in a relevant field (e.g., Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Health).

  • At least 10 years of senior management experience, preferably in healthcare, nonprofit, or a related sector.

  • Extensive expertise in strategic planning, fiscal management, and operational leadership.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
